Overdrive Magnetic Ring?

Well, another obstacle to getting Healey back on the road. After many stumbles, I got the new clutch in and the transmission back in. While draining the gearbox and overdrive I noticed that there was a magnetic ring that fits directly above the small strainer basket that sits inside the large brass overdrive drain plug. Unfortunately, this magnetic ring (about 1.75 inch in diameter) is broken into four pieces. I assume it is there to catch any metal chips or filings.
Question: Where can I get a new one? Is it necessary to replace it or can OD plug and basket be replaced without it? Don't want to damage gearbox/OD, but would love to get on the road before the gloom sets in out here for the next 8 months. Thanks

alfahealey, i once made one from a flat flexable refrig. magnet, ya know the type that have adverts on em, ya can get em at most hardware stores, worked great.

Thank you for your advice. Just wanted to add that the gentlemen at British Car Specialists have to be some of the nicest guys I have ever dealt with. Also very patient and smart!
