After months of being tied up on customers cars, my kitchen overhaul and traveling back and forth to New York...I finally did the transmission swap.. Sat. afternoon about 1230 or so, a pal stopped by and asked why my truck and B were parked out front. I said I was "thinking" about pulling the B in and taking it apart. He'd never touched a job like that and his excitement was catching so a few minutes later we were at it. Hood, engine, and then trans. I had NO clutch disc left, the cover was shot but the flywheel was fine. After finding that the last mechanic on this thing had left off things like both nuts and washers for tail shaft, and that the drivers side engine mount had seperated and numerous other screw-ups...we started the reassembly. By 530 we were basically done. Went down yesterday(Sunday) and finished the exhaust, a couple of things under the hood...and the hood. Drove it home last nite. Still have a couple of o/d wires and then a good cleaning. Just have a clutch that dosen't slip is a plus and feels 100 percent better.

Durn you fast. Wish I was.

I felt it was pretty fast myself. So today I gotbrave and opened up my box of new f/i stuff for my 911 and attacked it after lunch. had a pile of stuff around my knees by the time 5pm rolled around. Hoked up the battery, twisted the key and magic....now I got a fast toy to drive. Tomorrow I have to flush the gas and replace the plugs....shop smelled like turpentine after I cranked it. I guess its been close to two years since I've run the thing and gas dosen't last like it used to.
