I just got an overdrive trans but the shifter housing on top is cracked. Does anybody know if the regular trans shifter housing will fit?

If this is an LH type then any 4 synchro trans will be the same as far as anything forward of the tailshaft housing. The mainshaft and OD tailshaft housing are where the main differences are. There are two LH's, the early with a dipstick and late with a side hole for filling. No differences for you purpose.
