The list so far:

Stock Stromberg set up...check

Weber DGV................check

Dual Euro Su's...........check

.....Now I got a set of DCOE's and manifold today.

The bridge is cut on the manifold but repairable. The carbs look good too. I need linkage and few other things, but they're pretty much complete. I need these things like a hole in the head.... but what you gonna do ?!?!?!?!

I've got another set of carbs off of an Alfa that I was thinking about gutting and useing the bodies for a F.I set up that looked like Webers. I still may do that, but the plan is still to Patton the Su's and mega squirt.

I'm waiting to see how you fit all those carbs to one engine.

Use a progressive style carburation system, that way you can use two differnent carbs,
one carb of your choice could be for idle and cruise. the other carb of your choice could be for raw power when you need it

That'll be AWESOME. That'll take one HECK of a lot of fabrication and be a monster of a manifold, but...

In all seriousness though. I like the verb-ification of "Patton" as in, "I'm going to Patton these SUs".

Seriously, the Megasquirt was NOT that hard to set up. If I ever do another however, I'll buy the preassembled board. Building mine from a kit was fun, but the time spent...SHEESH! If you're not really into a few weeks of electronics-kit assembly, do yourself a favor and buy the 3.57 preassembled version.

Also, I thought I would save a few bucks and build my own wiring harness... WRONG!! Again the premade one costs about $80 whereas I spent prolly $80 in wire, PLUS another $40 in connectors/terminals, PLUS it took another couple of weeks to wire the car.

Don't get me wrong though. I LOVE that I have that experience under my belt. But once is enough!

Setting up the MS and EFI is like eatin an elephant... one bite at a time buddy and it's a cinch!

Good luck. Look forward to the future posts!

The Patton Machine adapter for the TBI injectors. After a bit more research, I decided to put regular injectors in the SU's and make my own adapter. It'll save me $250. I already have the unassembled MS unit. I've had it for 6 years or so now.

No kidding. When I built my car, harnesses could be had for $50. I don't think I could ever put a price on all the solder burns I got on my hands building that durn harness.

I built the stim already. It wasn't that bad. I don't even remeber what version I have. I think it might be the first.

Hey guys, I'm really gonna need y'all's help with this.

First thing I need to do is fiond cheap injectors, (i.e used but need to find out which ones.)

I'm planning on using two port injectors, but in a TBI configuration. My motor will probabaly never go past 100hp, so I figure 24-30# injectors will work out o.k.

The Patton kit uses a 33# GM Mini-Tbi injector. They're the ones shown at the top of the page here They appear to be $35/ea. It looks like the adapter is pretty easy to make (assuming you have all the milling/drilling equipment handy, which I don't). The beauty of that particular injector as I see it is that it only needs basically just a couple of concentric holes and a fuel passage intersecting it. Simple.

So are you intending to do something similar to the Patton adapter on the twin SU setup? At one point I had considered trying to do a twin-port injection and put the injectors at the cyl head end of the intake manifold runners. Then I though about getting a Mini MPI setup from England. Then there's also the Mini SPI.

Sometimes the hardest part of these projects is just making a decision and pulling the trigger! :hammer: Believe me, I thought of all kinds of crazy stuff before I just decided to stick with the K.I.S.S. method (Keep it SIMPLE stupid!) The Patton adapter certainly was the most simple for me.

I been looking through the adds for wrecked motorcycles. Some of the later ones got FI on them and look almost Identical to the Kehin KVs. If they can do this then I should be able to take the guts out of a setup like that and put in in a set of SUs with a little work. Or at least that is what I am thinking. FI with the factory original look of SUs is what I will be looking for in the end.

Not going the Patton route or using TBI injectors. Their spray pattern is too course IMO so I'll use two big port injectors. I'll be using the Su's as throttle bodies.

Here is a quick, rough, photoshop of one of the ideas I'd had.

Which, as it turns out, is almost exactly how the Mini Cooper MPI system is designed.

I think they may be a bit too deep in that pic. All the injected manifolds I have here they sit out of the air stream.

IIWM, I'd put them in the bend shooting straight down the intake on an A series.

has anyone thought of using the holes from where the air rail used to go?

How about these?

Manifold is for HF-6 SUs (?) on an "A" engine and these Throttle Bodies were originally setup for a MGB engine. Yes the spacing was cut down to fit the "A" engine. The injectors are too large since they were sized for the MGB 1.8 engine and I don't have what size they are (lost the paperwork, if I ever had it!

Don't ask what I got in them... I don't want to remember! (i.e. TOO much!)

Going to try to use these with Megasquirt... or not.

I think those extrud-a-body things are very clever. Wish that I had thought of it.
