Well, I now have 10,200 miles on my out-of-round crank redneck rebuild 1500 and it's still going strong. Now that I'm at a point to build it correctly, I've been pushing it more to see what it'll take. I routinly cruise at 4500 for hours and blast up to 5500 for a few minutes every so often.
It appears my theory was correct, however; my engine is heavily "fortified" w/ various chemicals.
The reasoning behind this exersize is to find out how long a 1500 will last w/o a major investment in time or money. Some folks can't go the route of a full tear down or restoration and just want a hobby car to drive occationally. I'm doing this for them. We all know how slippery the slope is once we tear one down. How else you think all those parts wind up on ebay?
DISCLAIMER: I DO NOT, UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES take this attitude w/ other's vehicles. How I am with client's cars and my own are TWO COMPLETELY DIFFERENT WAYS !!! Given what I do now, I ALWAYS err on the side of caution.
