Outrageous ARCO advertisement

I was filling the Healey with gas (petrol) today at my local ARCO station when I noticed a small poster on each of the gas pumps regarding their "Fill Smart" ad campaign. It depicted one of their gas pumps with "Fill Smart" written above it. Then it displayed an Austin Healey with the top down running along the highway. Inside the Healey were a man and a woman with their hair blowing wildly in the wind. The caption above the occupants read "Not so Smart".
I just might be filling up at Chevron next time. Obviously, ARCO doesn't have a clue. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/driving.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/driving.gif
 
Not sure what it's suppose to mean. I was told (years ago) that Shell and Arco have a high carbon content and caused valve fouling so I havent used them anyway. That's how I fill smart!

I don't have ARCO stations in this area but we do have BP. Next time I'm filling up my Healey at the Phillips 66 station across the street I'll have a look. Maybe even drive by, look, and then move on. Ha

I guess the company figured that the people that actually own and drive Austin Healeys are a very small group that it wouldn't hurt to offend! Plus the AH is the quintessential sports car so if the message was "wasting gas having fun in a sports car is not so smart" they at least picked a representative car. Oh, well. Amoco gas is too expensive here anyway - the closest station to our home is Amoco and my wife thinks I am being cheap by complaining that the gas there is always higher than everywhere else. OF course she is correct, but NOW I HAVE AN UNASSAULTABLE REASON TO NOT BUY GAS THERE!!! In a weird sorta way I am glad they put the poster on!!! Also, the poster itself refutes the "you're cheap" accusation..... Happy Friday to you all!
 
i agree,its totaly outrageos,they should be wearing austin healy ball caps,do you have any idea what that wind can do to hair folicals?not to mention drying,and split ends! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/nonod.gif
