Outlook Express 7

So, I can 'ping' the internet & see that I'm sending & receiving information but OE 7.0 says it can't display the website - in other words, I can't get on line with my laptop even though its on-line.....&, NO, I don't want to switch to something else - I want to make OE 7.0 work!

Funny thing, it was working fine & all of a sudden for no reason just stopped allowing me to see the internet...

Suggestions?

I’m confused Tony. Outlook Express is an e-mail program, you don’t browse the internet with it.

maybe he means Internet Explorer 7 instead?

Check the firewall settings: reduce the "level" of "protection" a bit at a time, reboot (yeah, I know, you're not supposed to NEED to do that, BUT) and try again.

Oops, yep, Internet Explorer 7...& I turned all my firewalls & security off & still couldn't get on.

delete it and go to IE 6? I hate IE7. there's also firefox and several other browsers available

Did you use the firewall control setting -in- IE7? It's a slider thingie.

That's really strange in that the O/S and IE ~usually~ JUMP on any connection available, if for nothing other than to report to the mothership in Redmond.

Proxy settings set incorrectly? Or maybe it's configured to use an incorrect connection? "Tools>Internet Options>Connections" well... that's how you get to it with IE 6. I don't have IE7 in front of me to verify it's the same. Optionally, in WinXP you can get to those settings via "Start>Control Panel>Internet Options>Connection"... If you're on Windows Vista on your laptop it should be very similar, although they might have renamed the "Internet Options" item in the Control Panel. Again, I don't have Windows Vista setup on any of my office PCs at the moment to verify.

I don`t like I.E. ANYTHING, {I.E. is the REAL cookie monster}{Not to mention SNITCH} Wouldn`t use it if I could! SOOOOOO I guess I can`t help you out here. If you ever do get online with it, do yourself a favor and D/L some other browser and use it instead. FireFox happens to be the one I like and use.
I rendered I.E. inoperable on my computer on purpose!

OKAY--think I have it figured out....

.....Windows XP didn't like my Linksys wireless network the way I set it up after installing the new hard drive in my laptop & because Windows was trying to manage it through the XP internal wireless stuff & couldn't, it locked me off the internet totally!

....once I modified the installation of that wireless network so that Windows recognizes it, everything works! Right now, I'm going to all my favorite websites, logging in, & telling my computer to remember them again!!

Now I've gotta figure out how to gwet to my web site to update it - haven't done that since this whole laptop fiasco started back in October....I'd'a been better off just buying a brand new laptop!!!!! (Too bad Basil won't let me say what I want to!!)

Yep, you guys do....

I finally got to my website (for the first time since Oct 27th) to do some updates.....think most everything is back up....gotta work on my AAA Map'n'Go program because it wants me to install the disc every time I want to plan a trip

& everytime I tell my Kaspersky security to delete an email, it sends me an email telling me it did it - gotta figure out how to change that!
