About the same time that I began to be interested in British cars, I also took up quilting....now here it is 4 1/2 years later and I've completed 1 and 1/2 cars. I would quilt while I waited for parts. Today, I finished my 1st quilt.
It is called "A view from 20,000 feet" and is designed to look like the view out of my airplane window over the western US.

A great idea! I'm impressed.

I was at a local aggie fair here a couple of years ago and was fascinated watching an ancient (i.e. older than I) woman in one of the craft barns working on a quilt. I asked her about some detail or other and she spent about 15 minutes explaining the intricacies of the art. I don't remember the details but I do remember being very impressed by the difficulties and the non-obvious considerations that go into it.

I have an Aunt that does Quilting and actually in her neck of the woods is quite famous for her work. I couldn`t believe how much $ she gets for one of her works of art. {B.T.W. all hand made NO sewing machines involved in her work} Way beyond my wildest dream price wise.

That is a beauty, you could make some BIG BUCKS if you ever decide to do custom work for others.

Should fly over Eastern WA. Same thing. Though you get a wierd effect as thet transverse a hillside.
 
Beautiful interpretation of the photograph to your project. You should come to the Kutztown Folk Festival just west of Allentown this summer. They have the world's largest quilt sale annually, and the quality of the quilts hanging in the barn is amazing.
 
I remember once, when visiting family in Utah in the mid-fifties, there in Aunt Ruth's living room was the makings of a quilt. All stretched out. With no TV to distract, she would work on it in her spare time or with her friends having a sewing bee. The house was heated with a pot belly stove and the kitchen was always warmed by her wood burning stove. Oh, and they used an out house.

Quilting is a time honored art and was once a necessity.

There is a very good possibility that Ray and I are first cousins, I however will let him decide Hehehehehehe.

That is a unique concept,and you finished it beautifully!

Where I live there is a huge contingent of Mennonites who display these at the outdoor markets. It is fantastic.
