In the event that I cannot locate the relay I need for my boiler, does anyone have an online source for them? It is a double pole single throw and made by a company called products unlimited. It is either part #D1693 or #200884 or 9100-211Q386. The coil on it is 24VAC and 50-60hz.

Any clues where this can be located (in the event I go out at lunch searching for it and cannot find it) will be appreciated.

Thanks. Found them at grainger during lunch for about $10.

I hope this is the problem.

Does anyone know if relays should get very very hot under normal conditions?

They'll get warm normally... shouldn't see 120* tho.

Woulda suggested Granger's if'n I'd pulled me nodge outta a client's raid config earlier than now. Good ya got 'em.

The latest problem is that the boiler is continuing to cycle on & off but I do not even have a thermostat connected to it. Either the relay is making it do this (which is why it is hot & always closed) or there is another problem. I will assume that there are no other problems but will check the 24 VAC into the relay and make sure that it is what it is supposed to be. If it is 24 VAC then and I will assume it is stuck open. I got both I need and will replace both.

Since you don't say what the boiler is connected to - hot water or? - it's a good bet that whatever is supposed to circulate through the boiler - water? - is not circulating. This would cause the boiler over temp protection switch to cycle off & on. Check for circulation, valve, pump, or what ever is supposed to go through the boiler.

The problem was that the circulator pump was always on which caused the temp to drop below the 180Âş boiler water temperature, so she kept cycling and heating up the house.

I just finished replacing both relays & rewiring the whole enchilada. Did some preliminary testing and waited. With no t-stat hooked up the boiler kept cycling again but the pump running was for the hot water. Then it stopped and the Boiler did not come on for a few minutes. As soon as I turned on the t-stat TADA!! the boiler kicked on. Seems all is well now but I now only have one zone controling a 10 zone house. Come spring time I will replumb and rewire the entire system.

Didn't fix it a moment too soon. It seems that winter is finally arriving with temps reaching the teens tomorrow.
