Our girl really did well - pretty neat experience.

Nice! I'm thinking of taking my boy next winter for the first time, when he's four.

Our son is about 3.5 years old Jeremy, and he did OK. Real basic stuff of course, but I think he'll do fine at that age. Only problem we had with him was that he wanted to put on a snowboard and go to the very top of the mountain! "OK Dad, I'm ready to go up top now"....

tried it once, spent the day cold and wet.

I remember taking my kids skiing for the first time about twenty years ago. It was my first time also. Well, after some basic instructions, we headed to the bunny hill, but I just had a lot of trouble. However the kids started to get the hang of it. On the second day, they were doing just fine while I sat and watched. Finally I couldn't take it anymore and decided to give it another go. Something clicked, because I actually managed to stay up most of the time. By the third day we were heading up on a real lift, instead of the Poma type that just pulled you up a short distance on the surface. That's when everything changed for the better. We were still on easy slopes, but the confidence built quickly and the fun really started...at least for me...the kids were having fun the whole time.

From then on, we were a skiing family. We stayed away from the black diamonds, but could handle all of the intermediate stuff. Fortunately, my sister lives only about two miles from Okemo, so costs never got out of hand. Now they are grown and married, so the skiing trips have come to a halt. :frown:

It's a great way for the family to spend time together.
