Originality of carpets for BN6

Hey all,
Does anyone know if the original carpets that are placed
under the seats and the small area behind the seats was
"bound" with vinyl on the edges or simply cut to fit ?
I know the pieces that sit in the mail footwell area
were bound but not sure about the other two large pieces.
Could not determine even after studying the Moment/Anderson
bible !
Thanks,
Mike

Heritage, IIRC, claims to only bind the trans tunnel, as original.

I hope you get all this worked out by the time I get around to doing mine

Lots of pictures please; I'll host them on rfdm.com so you/we can post them here for anyone that needs to see them.

The only carpet binding on a BN6 was around the gear lever opening and around the handbrake opening. No binding anywhere on the floors, the intention was a look of continuity. The floor carpet piece under the seats was snapped into place with floor snaps and at the rear when it reached the heel board, it bent 90 dgrees to go up the vertical. The top edge was forced under the vinyl covered metal lip just under the battery lid. The floor snaps held it in a sort of compression fit.

I am sure that I have never seen a 2-seater that was done correctly. I did not know that's how it was supposed to be.

Are the popular carpet kits for the 2-seater cut to allow this? The ancient carpets I last had, had the panel across the back like a 4-seater!

Hey y'all,
Thanks for the info on the binding or no binding issue. The kit I got from
AH Spares has the two pieces that go underneath the seats with bound edges
but as made, they would have to be cut anyway to allow for the bump in the
drive shaft tunnel from the hand brake. They also provide a separate piece
that goes on the heel board. The front main pieces also have binding on
them. I used Heritage on a BN1 a couple of years ago
and if I recall it had armacord on the heel board, not carpet. I will take
pictures Randy and get them to you !
Thanks,
Mike
