Ordinarily this wouldn't bother me...

...but it now seems like my brain is on fire: Fully intended to change the oil in the Alfa this day ~KNOWING~ there was a filter on the spares shelf... WRONG. No filter, no filter available thru the local PartsMonkey stores. GRRRrrrrr.

It seems when I did the last change I was somehow distracted and didn't order another pair. I'ma dummy, imadummy... Rats. Three here for the B, one for Diesela, enuff Lotus ones to start a parts store.... but no Alfa. /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/wall.gif

Senility creepin' up on me is the only explanation. And not checking was just dumb. *sigh*

Just put one from the "B" in,& use
a lot of duct tape around the base (or superglue it).

Doc., see A.A.A.D.D. in the humor forum!!! /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/jester.gif

PS: Have you tried cross-overs (Fiat and Ferrari come to mind as possibly similar units). A few key measurements and opening and closing a few boxes at the local store may yield surprising results! /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/wink.gif

Everything in the garage has a special order filter except the DeLo.......
Either Canton Mecca or some goofy canister thing.
And only 2 of them agree on the same oil.

"Oil day" is a real PITA

Then there is the rear end fluid (changed yearly)....
*TVR has a Quaife LSD and likes 75-80 Lucas hypoid.
*Elva has a Tran-X LSD (clutch pak) & DEMANDS 75-90 Redline gear oil + EXACTLY 150ml of TransX slip juice.
*The Pinto prefers old bacon grease mixed w/ an equal amount of cat urine.
*The Jag takes Jag-juice.....Go figure.....& the DeLo has a trans-axle so it uses something altogether different.

Wanna hear the gearbox routine? (4 varieties)
(Also, we have 3 types of brake fluid and 2 kinds of rad fluid)

The garage looks like a dang chemistry lab.

Yeah, Dave, I have a similar menagerie and routine... I just can't figure how I slipped up and missed that I didn't have the bloody thing on a shelf... all the various fluids and gimmicks are here. Just NO Alfa filter.

I'll have two in hand by noon t'morrow, but I'm contemplating Doug's duct tape plan. Along with eyeing the toilet paper supply in Herself's closet... /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/devilgrin.gif

Wait! Wait! Wait! I was just kidding.
Some thigs seem like a really bright idea -
- late in the evening, after a 12 pack of beer,
or so I'm told.
In the morning it doesen't seem like such a great
idea.

Doc. are you contemplating a midnight ride in the Alfa? /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/cowboy.gif /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/devilgrin.gif

A WOrD to teh WiSe: 12-pack o' CAB and superglue are NOT a good combo! /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/nonono.gif /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/nonod.gif

Either you were playing an MMORPG or those glue fumes REALLY got to you...

...well, i'm a lousy "group participant". That should be clue enuff... that and a permanent record of my fingerprints on an empty can o' CAB somewheres inna recycle bin. /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smirk.gif

...never noticed before how temp-sensitive fingers can be with just a few layers of skin missin'. Must be gettin' old.

"Game du jour" onna innernet. Role playing, real time. Weird.

AHEM, Alfas have that effect on some (glances at the brace of snowmobile carbs, headers and Autodeltas over in corner), yea verily.

Cheers!
Dave G.

I've ~tried repeatedly~ to NOT own an Alfa. This Spider is now #4 in a near-continuous line since 1975. I've got most of a parts department for 'em inna Shed; 1300, 1600, 1750 and 2000 engines, transmissions, stainless trim bits... They're like cats: ya don't actually go out lookin' for 'em, they just find you. Can't throw 'em away sooo... may as well feed 'em. I do wish this one were a GTV instead of a drop-top but it came at a time when I was out of (running) Alfas. Go figger.
