I'd like to replace the battery in my TR250 with a Model 34 Optima. The overall dimensions, including terminal posts are:

6.8"W x 10"L. Height is 7.8" including posts.

Optima lists this battery for TR6 but not TR250.

Is the battery tray dimension and bonnet clearance different on a TR6 as compared to a TR250?

thanks

I went to the Optima site, and they list the TR4A battery as the same as the TR6, so you will be good to go with the one listed for the TR6. I believe that's the same one that I have in my TR3.

I also have the model 34 and an happy with it. It only has the top posts and no side terminal so the clamp fits better.

This is what they recommend for the 250.
Part Number: D31A (9051-160)
YellowTop®; Deep Cycle Battery; BOXED; Grp. D31A; Cold Crank Amps 900; Crank Amps 1125; Res. Capacity 155; Ampere Hour 75; Top Terminal; L-12 13/16 in.; W-6.5 in.; H-9 3/8 in.;

I switched to an Optima Marine for my tarpon boat, Tres Gatos, and I love it Frank. Instant crank after sitting at anchor at night with full running lights on and engine off.
Did NOT fit my existing battery tray. A strong cranking battery.

I just got home, and looked at which Optima I have. It's an SC34U. Dimensions appear to be the same as what your looking at Frank, but it is not the same one, as mine also has the side terminals, but they do not interfere with the battery hold down.

I paid about $150 from one of the local parts stores that we deal with. I've seen similar prices on the internet.

Thanks guys. I'm trying to use a discount card from Advance Auto. I guess the counter guy gave me the wrong info. But now I know what I need thanks to BCF!

Frank,

Do yourself a favor and get one of the mounts made for an Optima battery. It will hold it down well and add a little bling to the engine compartment. I also got a pulse style charger that was made for the Optima and sits on mine whenever it's not in use, which is a lot since I have the TR8 that I've been playing with.

Yeah, those are really trick. Almost enough to convince me to get an Optima!

I got mine from Summit, but many others carry them now that didn't back then.
