My TR3 is set up for summer/hot driving. New ally rad, TR6 fan, and an additional pusher fan for traffic on 100 + days.
When it cools down it wants to run cool even though I've blocked off 3/4 of the small mouth cowl.
I've the Rober Shaw 180 degree thermostat (wish they made the 180 original sleeved) and have reduced the bypass appropriately.
The car wants to run @ about 160 degrees....will this cause any problems?
Should I take further steps to increase op temp?

Is the fan switched so you can override it.

I'd sure want to double-check that reading first. My RS thermostat doesn't open until 180F or so, and I can't imagine you are driving with it fully closed. If the temperature is correct, I'd try a different Tstat next.

Randall,
I've tried a few dif Tstats,a Stant 180 and the RS. It takes a while to get to temp and I see the stat opening then it falls to about 160 or so. Today, with the front blocked off 3/4 it got to 180 but the ambient temp was about 90 degrees...it remained at 180 for the trip but that's pretty unusual for having the air blocked off...great during the summer though.
