Late this PM a former neighbor's son showed up on my doorstep. Haven't seen him in 20 years. He and his daughter were on their way to trade in her '76 Spit and wanted to know if I was interested in it. Good looking car no rust, no dents, decent BRG. Could be a good project, needs a muffler and a serious tune-up (or more). While I'm standing in the doorway thinking how to slide this in plus the Tiger I recently bought comes a very loud "No more cars" from the kitchen. Bad karma. Bob

I get the "That is very nice,...... BUT WE DON'T HAVE THE ROOM"
case closed.

I don't even bother to think about it anymore.

As Dirty Harry once said, "a man has to know his limitations".

But on the other hand, "I know what you're thinking. "Did he buy six cars or only five?" Well, to tell you the truth, in all this excitement I kind of lost track myself."

Come on guys - man up. There is always room to be found! And what is with asking premission? I don't recommend that as a strategy.

I also prefer notification after the fact with pictures of a restored car (rather than the one I bought) as an explanation of what it is....

I'm lucky, Wife doesn't care how many I have as long as it doesn't cramp her shipping. I also get to store all the cars at my mother's farm where there's several barns to hide all this stuff.

Yea I had someone who was gonna trade me a Staaaaag, for my Spitfire, even up, until I asked permission.

:cryin:

As someone I once worked with once said, "sometimes you ask forgiveness, not permission."

which is what I got from another antique collecting/selling friend of mine who is also into cars.

When I first meet me other half she tried this and I asked if she would mind me going through her shoes.

It worked, but now everytime she buys shoes they are for "her mom".

I am trying to adjust to T's infinite wisdom.

Suddenly my life doesn't seem so bleak. Living in my shop, alone, no wife, no kids, no TV.....

Thanks, guys. What a way to start a friday!

Where's that Spitfire located?

I gotta clarify this a little. My wife and I live on a fairly main street in a small town. All the kids are grown and gone. One car garage. Already FIVE cars registered and insured, Tiger project on the way. As much as I'd like the Spit for an additional project, do I really NEED it? If I wasn't committed to the Sunbeam I'd have bought it in a minute, but --- Bob
