I failed to mention in the previous post that my steering is very stiff. I have a loud squeaking noise that appears to be coming from the shaft just below the steering wheel. May be coming from the felt bush. I'm not certain that I adequately lubricated the rack but the noise isn't coming from there. I'm using a Motolita boss and a Lecarra wheel.

Thoughts?

It's almost certainly the new felt in your column. I have experienced this before too. They are very tight initially.

Should I have lubricated the felt bush? Can I still? If so, with what?

I haven't seen anything specified in any of the manuals, but some silicone spray or some light oil like MMO should do the trick.

The felt bushings should be lubed with just plain oil. a few squirts does the job well. Like a teaspone both top and bottom. Will take like 5K or so to really get fitted nicely unless you did some masterful work when you installed them.
