Haven't had real scrapple for decades.

How 'bout some scrapple?

I could have bought some for you earlier this week at the Reading Terminal Market in Philly. There were lots of places selling it.

Today we will have our traditional Pork and Sauerkraut New Year's Day meal with mashed potatoes and rye bread...YUMMY!

Don't forget black-eyed peas....Jerri just called from shopping to say we have to go up to a place in TN to get some when she gets home.

I think Scrapple is an acquired taste.....I never developed it but my folks used to have it on Sundays, fried in a pan and then pour syrup on it.....

This is a new one for me - never heard of it, but why would you want to eat little wooden tiles with letters on them? (even with syrup)

Get with the times! Most folks nowadays pour Words-tershire sauce on their Scrapple.

If your journey westwards should take you along I-94 past Chicago and thence to Milwaukee, keep in mind that there will be hospitality and a garage with metric wrenches available if needed. Just in case

Steve - thanks for the offer. I will indeed be passing up through Milwaukee on my way to Appleton. If wrenches are needed, I'll repay your hospitality with dinner at Karl Ratzch. (if that wonderful restaurant still exists ...)

If you pass through Chicago, you MUST call! I won't treat you to Scrapple but we ARE rather known for good pizza in these parts!!

Peter - thanks for the invitation. Chicago is definitely on the way, tho' most likely *not* during rush hour. I remember one fateful day driving my 1976 Aspen on the "S-curve" down on Lake Shore Drive ... Whoever designed that curve should be shot, gol' dern it.

Is that wonderful old German restaurant still down in the Loop?
