Let the fun begin! Yours was a fun restoration to watch, Julian. Your lovely wife looks like the parade queen there in the front seat! My wife loves the attention we get when we go out for rides! Have a great summer!
Thanks everyone: I ended up driving 60 miles, I was having so much fun.
I really need to fix the fast idle.
The car pulls very strongly. I was behind a 911 Carrera S going up the freeway on-ramp, and keeping up, although I'm sure he was just toying with me The snarl of the exhaust above 3000rpm is intoxicating!
How risky is it to take these engines to the red line?
If your engine is in good nick the redline is your "shift indicator"!!
Seriously, it should be capable of running up to redline now and again. But find peak HP output for change-up. Your butt will tell you where it is, as there won't be any noticeable rise in "pulling". Not sure where that is with those TRactor engines you guys insist on, all that excess torque may fool ya even high up in the rev range.
Congrats on the first run, BTW! Pile time on it now. Dale's comment aside.
As my ex-pat English pal has said: "It's English. Even HALF right th' things will run in th' bottom of a bucket of s***!!" :smirk:
