On the road again!

Finally got my vapor locking troubles squared away yesterday, and made a voyage to the park and back without stalling. Seems the new mechanical pump I put in developed an air leak, so I put the old one back in and VOILA! Now it's working! I noticed that the fuel would seep back down to the tank on the inlet side, but the outlet line from the pump the carburetor still had plenty of fuel in it. Oh well, the rest of the work was worthwhile since I have new fuel lines, a clean, repainted gas tank, and a fuel gauge that actually shows how much gas I have. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/driving.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cheers.gif

Congratulations Dave! It is always nice when things work like they are supposed to. I'm down hard right now waiting for an engine rebuild. I think I hurt my main bearings a couple of weeks ago and I haven't been able to maintain oil pressure at idle after a long run. I plan to drop the pan and measure the clearances in the oil pump but I don't hold much hope for that being the culprit. Enjoy your time on the road bud! Be thinking of us who are struggling to keep theirs from becomeing a storage shelf in the garage...lol (my wife keeps piling things inside the car when she is too lazy to take them all the way to the shelf on the other side of the garage...lol)
Enjoy it while you can my friend,
JC

Thanks JC, and hope the rebuild goes well for you. I can say my car knows what being a storage shelf is, it was under a pile of boxes when I first saw it. Good luck, and I'm sure you'll be back on the road soon.
