Well, as of today my 56 TR3 is officially back on the road after a 3.5 year restoration. Thanks to everyone who helped along the way! Cheers, Mike

Love the Winchester Blue! Great job! :encouragement:

What a fantastic looking car, and in only 3.5 years, beautiful job, now post more pictures. Mike it seems our choice in colors is getting popular again. I've seen a few cars being restored in Cotswalt, and Winchester Blue.

Hey Mike,

Looks awesome ! Congratulations. Looking forward to hearing some driving feedback in the next few weeks. And we definitely need more photos!

I need to have a ride in that. Maybe we can get them both to ABCD next year.

Cheers
Tush

Congratulations Mike. Beautiful job on a beautiful car. Thanks for sharing the great photo.

Best wishes!

Pat

Very nice indeed.

Brings up an interesting question. When exactly is "officially" back on the road? I have over 130 miles on mine and am going thru "sorting it out". It's registered, insured, mostly complete, but I have not considered it to be "back on the road, officially".

Great color.

If it's all put together, and you can drive it back into the garage.

Oh So a beautiful! You did great work. We do need more pictures. Love the color it looks awesome.

Mike-

I just congratulated you on the TR Register forum, but this one is worth a second congrats. Excellent job!

Randy

I know how proud you must be. I did the same thing 30 years ago after a 7 year project. Crazy thing is starting this weekend I'm doing it all over again. Should only be 6 months this time. congratulations!!!

Thanks all. Big thrill to be on the road again. Colour is Cotswold Blue. Maiden voyage was to our local car club meeting tonight ... coincidentally 56 miles (56 TR3). Bit nippy on way home as it was 6 degrees by 9 pm ... just helped freeze the smile on my face! Cheers, Mike

Here are a few more pics:

Thanks for clearing up the color name, Mike. Cotswold and Winchester sure look similar, and I think there was another color like it - Salvador, maybe?

Think that is correct Mickey. I'm sure there are subtle differences in these blues if the cars are side by side. When I picked the colour I had an idea what I wanted, and it is exactly what I was hoping for. Cheers, Mike

Mike - I notice that you have an original Canadian oil filler cap on your valve cover. I lose points in USA concours because I have one just like yours and all the TRA judges say it is not from Standard-Triumph. Mine is the one which came on my 1958 TR3A when I bought it brand new in May, 1958. The US TRs have three thumb dimples on the oil filler caps for TRs which were shipped to USA. Why S-T would have a different one for Canada and another for USA is beyond me. Maybe they figured that Americans would have difficulty idf they were smooth all round. I also heard that Aussie TRs have oil filler caps like the TRs delivered to Canada. My Comm No. is 8 TS 27489 LO. Do you have a numeral before the TS on your VIN plate ? If so, the numeral represents the year your TR3 was sold in Canada. If you have no digit before the TS number, it may not have been originally imported into Canada. Cheers - Don Elliott
