"Automotive Engineering" passed now through three generations. There were six volumes, unfortunately volumes 1 & 3 have gone missing over the years. I may be the guilty party, as I poured over these as a kid.

Doc, back in 1964/65"?" a show at Hershey Pa, was a first issue 1917 Chevy V8 presented by the original owner and his wife, I have a pic somewhere in a pile of old photos. The car was bought new by his dad and given to them as a wedding present in 1917. All I remember is the car was in pristine condition and the color was a dark green. I do remember that the engine cylinders were set at 90 degrees and it had an updraft carb, the intake manifold looked like a spider with the carb hanging underneath. I love looking at those old cars and the (modern) technology of the time. :encouragement:

Some twenty years ago, shortly after we'd moved into our last shop, a fellow just shows up in an early '20's Packard. Said we'd been recommended but he had had a hard time finding us, said he couldn't find anyone who would touch it!. Needed someone who could look at why the thing was running rough... short story is it had a dual-point Delco-Remy dizzy. Between my experience with Magnetti Marelli dual-point Alfa distributors and those old books as a kid, had it sorted in short order. The carb was low on the block and looked like a Maxwell House coffee can!

All I can say is: "Defeat of deduct goes over defense before detail"!!!!
