Semi-retired entrepreneur, into cars since I was 5 (maybe earlier). Grew up in small town SC. Learned to drive in a 51 Studebaker Champion, 1st new car was a 69 2002 BMW. Raced SCCA Showroom Stock in the late 70s, early 80s & came to appreciate those who campaigned BMCs in F, G & H Production. Tullius & the Group 44 Jags & Triumphs were fun to watch in Trans-Am & IMSA. I was able to acquire a working(?) relationship with Lucas as a result of assisting friends with their BMCs.

REALLY enjoyed the Mad Men episode with the attempted suicide by Jaguar.

Car poor would most probably describe me best. 1st British make I purchased was a 60 RR SCII which will hopefully be running & driving soon. Just purchased a 56 Bentley S1 Base Sedan included as part of purchasing a wedding limo company website/phone/social media/bookings.

The other miscellaneous inventory: Lotsa Lincolns: 62 Continental Convertible, 62 Continental Sedan, 65 Continental Sedan, 73 Continental TC, 99 Lincoln TC Limo, 05, 09, 11 Lincoln L Town Cars. 69 BMW 2002, 85 Dodge D150, 94 & 95 Cadillac Fleetwood Limos. My wife calls me a hoarder, I'm still trying to come up with the appropriate term.

we prefer the term connoisseur collector. welcome - and quite a stable!

Would I be correct to compare your Vauxhall to the Opel Kadett, although more powerful than the Opel? I do like your collection
Thanks. Both GM but a completely different car,

Welcome! What car did you race in Showroom Stock?
I raced a '79 Fiesta Sport,that I raced 1980-'82,until I
rolled it doing a hillclimb.AAA payed it off & gave the
car back to me.I did tell them what I was doing when
I wrecked it.

77-78 Buick Opel Isuzu (GM went to Japan because of the devaluation of the USD-couldn't sell a $5K entry level car) Drove to Texas World, GSW Airport (Ft Worth), PBIR, Daytona, Summit Point, CMS, Rockingham, Savannah. Multiple lap records in Texas. (1800cc vs 1600cc). 11th@CSPRRC. "Most fun you could have with clothes on!" PM Magazine quote. Drove the "race" car to every competition.
79-80 Chevy Vega. 10th CSPRRC in 79 1st DNF in ~50 races.
81 VW Rabbit Lap record in rain @ Savannah, lap record @ CMS. 2nd @ CSPRRC
Great experiences. Loved racing & instructing @ Drivers' Schools & HPDE events.
Raced a little in the IMSA Renault Cup in 82. Instructed @ HPDE events thru the mid-90s.

Very impressive considering how competitive SCCA was back then! Much more impressive than my lap record at TWS -- I was the only person to ever race a CFF there, so a 10-minute lap would have been a record 😐

And I was the last CFF to ever race there, so the record will never be broken.

A lap record is a lap record!!

TWS was the NEATEST track I think I ever saw. We had a 2 car caravan to TWS in 78 (Bonus National). Took ~30 hrs due to 7 (trailer & tow vehicle) blow-outs, IIRC. Just made the last minutes of Friday tech. Tech to me, "you sure drove a long way to finish 3rd." Sammy McSpadden & Jim Gandy (Autoweek scribe) had 1.6L Colts & basically swapped wins in the Division. I latched onto a SSB 1.9 German Opel & rode his bumper for the entire race. My 85mph speedo was always buried on the oval. Lapped all but the 2nd place car. Destroyed the lap record, often wondered if it was broken. GREAT WEEK-END!
