Old Computer - Config.sys error

As I play with old computers, I have this one that I keep getting that there's an error in line 3 of the config sys file. I've checked it and can't figure out what's wrong with it as it looks correct. Needless to say the cd drive doesnt work if this line is wrong. Here's the line= (DEVICE=C:\CDROM\CDATAPI.SYS/D:MSCD001). What's missing? Any clues? It's an old HP computer BTW.

Is the file CDATAPI.SYS still in the CDROM folder? CD drives seem to be the first thing to die in a system.

Tom's answer is correct.

Just a thought: the /D is a switch, but there has to be a blank space in front of it.

Thanks guys, I'll work on that, but one thing that was wrong was a dead cmos battery! I guess they don't make them like they used to, this one was only 20 years old! :highly_amused: PJ

Hmm, The D switch doesn't have a space in the line as you suggested Tom, gotta fix that too. Thanks a bunch! Gotta take a break from these old computers and get back to work on my TF.
