And you guys had me believing that this was a joke! Look in that jar. Isn't that Smoke? You can buy it now! It's even filtered, I guess to keep it pure. I didn't get the price, but I gotta get me some. Just in case mine starts leaking out of the harness. Looks like it's setting on the hood of a Jag. I guess they have the same problem at times. Just thought I'd pass this info on. PJ

If only I had known you wanted some of this.I would have bottled some when it escaped from the alternator. /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/grin.gif
I didn't think it was a rare commodity. /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smile.gif

Stuart.

Thanks Stuart, I appreciate the offer. Doc, Tony, etc helped me solve my problem a while back. But now you can get the proper Lucas storage jar and injector all in one! For those who don't have one of course. PJ

Sure glad I don't need anymore of that stuff. Is a pita to work with.

Ya know I bought one jar for the GT and it did not do the trick. Ya'll told me 1 jar would be enough but my headlights are dim and the wipers are running slowly so I assume I need another. If I had that auction number I'd bid on it unless you have already staked a claim to it.

Been on E-bay, even!

...just be sure to get the proper adaptor for the system you have! i.e. Positive (red) or Negative (black) Earth Adaptor. Mix them at your peril! /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/wink.gif

Re: OK, Doc,Tony,Jack, etc,etc! Take a Gander at t

Oh, I did not know that Doc. Good Info, thanks.

Re: OK, Doc,Tony,Jack, etc,etc! Take a Gander at t

Thanks for the heads up Paul. My car lost all of it's smoke in the late 80's and I been looking for replacement smoke since. My car's electrical system has been working perfectly since then and I know that's not right. Now that I know the part number, I will keep my eyes open for some more on Ebay etc.

By the way, do you think this will work on my BSA motorcycle as it too is British? I'm not sure if it has Lucas electrics.

I've also heard that there is a Lucas to Bosch adapter (part #530435) that will allow Lucas smoke to be used on German iron. Do you know if this is true?

Re: OK, Doc,Tony,Jack, etc,etc! Take a Gander at t

Lucas #530433-M. You need the METRIC smoke fer that.

...works on Alfa's too.

Re: OK, Doc,Tony,Jack, etc,etc! Take a Gander at t

Hmmmmm, Metric too? I guess that comes in a different size container. Probably has a different size injector also. Maybe I should get some of that just in case??

Hey! I didn't know we have a spell checker now. Hit the right button by mistake and bingo! All this time I've been rattling my brain and didn't have too. Super!!! Now where's the icons?

Re: OK, Doc,Tony,Jack, etc,etc! Take a Gander at t

I am confused and am wonering if the braided and cloth wiring systems had a different dixode content.

Are they the same?

Please advise.

Patrick

Re: OK, Doc,Tony,Jack, etc,etc! Take a Gander at t

Geez, Patrick... there ya go again, hittin' us with them 'negative waves'...

The cloth has a much lower tolerance for both pressure AND dioxide level... The blue tape is the best, tho. You can overcharge it and not lose the whole loom. /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smirk.gif

EDIT: Just how far we gonna flog this mule? /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smile.gif

Re: OK, Doc,Tony,Jack, etc,etc! Take a Gander at t

Thanks Doc,

I was really worried about that one, hope I didn't screw up again.

I really have to find a gauge on ebay and put this to rest.

Not to be negative again, but are the gauges different for braided and "blue tape" wire LBC's?

Thanks,
Patrick

Didn't 'Oddball' have one of those jars in his Sherman?

Re: OK, Doc,Tony,Jack, etc,etc! Take a Gander at t

Yup, Jeff.

There musta been a jar o' some kinda smoke in that tank... not sure it was 530433.

Re: OK, Doc,Tony,Jack, etc,etc! Take a Gander at t

I have dodged the need for this bottle for a lot of years with more than a little fear that I would need it. This winter I've cut my old wiring loom out (definitly a no go back step) and am now in the process of installing a new cloth one. The start of the project is a lot harder than the actual doing of it. I truely hope I only will read about "the bottle".

Re: OK, Doc,Tony,Jack, etc,etc! Take a Gander at t

I dunno - I'd like to see the expiration date on the label on the back side of the bottle - the one that lists the technical terms/ingredients/place & date of bottling - you know, that stuff....

&, has it been 'rebottled'? Meaning, did the original owner take it back to a dealer for refill?

&, vping, therein could be your problem...if its been on the shelf too long, it begins to lose some of its power so that it takes a couple of bottles to do what 1 would normally do....

Re: OK, Doc,Tony,Jack, etc,etc! Take a Gander at t

Can I add to the first bottle that is already in the loom or do I need to purge the old? I have the cloth wiring loom in there now could that also be part of my problem?

Re: OK, Doc,Tony,Jack, etc,etc! Take a Gander at t

Believe you're gonna have to purge lest you end up an air pocket...use BL Part # K136...it hooks to an auto purge setup (if you don't have one, Doc probably does - K136 looks kinda like a Shrader valve that fits between the smoke can & the AC purging setup)
