oil pump

I have installed a new cam in my 1275 and it calls for a slot driven oil pump. The oil pump that was purchased from vb does not have the four holes that were required with the original cam and star pump. I looks as if they are supposed to be there, however, one is threaded and has a screw holding it together. The other hole looks as if it has not been drilled through after it was casted. Their is also an extra hole in between the for-mentioned mounting "holes". The other two mounting holes are correct. What in the world is going on with this? Thoughts?

Should I have gotten a star driven cam?

So I was talking to a friend of mine that said the newer slot drive pumps are mounted with just two screws.... This seems strange to me. The old one mounted with four screws and made a square. The new one would only be holding on one side of the pump.. Is this right?? Does the rear plate help hold it in place?

All of the star drive pumps I have been getting are attached with 2 bolts. You will be fine with it. Just mount in with the notch (right side of the picture) down.
