I'm in the process of reassembling the motor for my B. There are two oil pumps that came with the motor (which was supposedly rebuilt, but I've gone through it again with new pistons, etc.). I'm assuming the one that was installed was the new one, and the other that was in a box was used, even though it looks clean. The question I have is: Is there a way to check the pump out of the engine before I install it?
 
Mickey, I only replaced mine when I rebuilt just to be sure but the Bently manual says to use a feeler gauge and check the end float with a straight edge across the opening and the rotor should not exceed .005" and the clearance between the rotor lobes should not exceed .006" You really need to see the drawings. Mine is the '62 through '74 manual. My scanner isn't working or I could scan it for you. If you have no other way to get it, I can photo copy it for you and mail.

That'd be great. I have a manual that says basically the same thing, but no picture. I want to be sure, but don't want to spend any extra if I've got a new one on hand.
