Hi all I have a question about my oil pressure. can it be too high. mine is (at start up) about 65-70 pounds
after its wormed up at idle its 40-45 lbs .and when driving about 4000 rpm it holds 60 lbs. is this too high and if it is how do I fix it.
any ideas
thank you bill

Wish mine was as good as that.

Seriously, 70 lbs on start up is pretty norm. Cold thicker oil and all that.

Warn engines idle around 25lbs or better depending on degree of ware

And 60 at 4000 is very good.

When was the engine rebuilt?

Hi I rebuilt the engin 3 years ago and put in a new oil pump but i was not sure if the oil pressure being too high could do any damage

Yes if the oil pressure is too high it can damage the pump itself and erode oil orifices over time. Kinda like wire draw effects on metal with water. However. Bill your oil pressure is spot on.--Keoke
