TR2/3/3A oil pressure line routing TR3A

The best I can figure out is the oil line from the guage terminates at one of the oil filter mounting studs. I ordered a new stud, inner and outer brass washers and the cap nut. now, for the life of me, I have no idea how this works. Does oil flow past the stud, is the stud channeled for oil to flow to the banjo fitting? I'm stumped.
 
Oil flows past the stud, in the clearance between it and the housing (and between the stud and the copper washer).

You are correct, the oil flows around the stud to the banjo fitting attached to the line to the gauge. The two copper washer seal either side and the cap nut holds it all in place.

Here is a photo to show you which stud to use.

+Thanks for the great picture Dave. What an incredibly crude and simple way to get oil to the capillary tube. Makes you wonder if this was an after thought or standard for the day.
 
When I went to help my buddy start his TR-3B for the first time after a total restoration, we first cranked the engine with the plugs out to check for oil pressure...nothing. Unhooked the flex line going to the gauge, cranked again...nothing. Took off the fitting on the oil pump housing...nothing. Finally took out the stud, and the stud and hole it went into was packed up with gasket sealer. Cleaned it all out, and got oil pressure.

So, be careful when mounting the oil filter assembly onto the block.
