TR2/3/3A Oil Pressure Guage Line TR3

Afternoon All:

Working on reinstalling my oil filter. I put the Aluminun housing on and find that the stud stands proud of the housing lip. So I dutifully looked it up in the manual and found that lo and behold the oil pressure guage pipe attaches at that point. Ok says I, I can deal with that. Then I realize there is NO way that oil of any amount can get through the stud and into the oil pressure guage pipe. Can anyone tell me what gives here? There is no oil hole in the stud that would allow oil into the banjo fitting! Am I missing something?
So once again help me, help me he cries!

ALSO, the manual says DO NOT ATTEMPT TO SET THE RELIEF VALVE ....... IT IS SET AT THE WORKS TO A PREDETERMINED FIGURE. Needless to say mine has been apart for some time now so "wot to do, wot to do?

Your comments and thoughts greatly appreciated.

The oil "leaks around" the stud into the banjo fitting which is sealed with two copper washers.

You'll have to reset the oil pressure relief a couple of times once the engine is started to achieve the oil pressure spec.

Thanks Peter

Be careful when installing that aluminium housing to the block. When we went to fire up my friends TR3 after his resto and couldn't get any oil pressure while cranking. It turned out that he smeared too much gasket sealer around where that stud goes through and wouldn't allow the oil to get past the stud. We took the stud out and fiddled around with a screwdriver in there until we got flow without the stud. Bolted everything back up, and pressure registered on the gauge.
