Oil Pressure Gauge

My 70 MGB's oil pressure sending unit has failed. The replacement unit is a quite expensive so....I'd like to convert to a conventional oil pressure guage. I see the sending units for 1973 and onward are much less expensive. What do I need to do to replace my guage. Is a 73 guage a drop in guage in the dash. If I get all the "plumbing" will it work?
Anything I need to be aware of to avoid problems. Or do I just need to spend the $125 for a new sending unit for my car??

I guess you are talking about going from the electric gague to the manual one. I know it can be done and is pretty simple if you have the parts from a later? car. Although the expensive oil pressure sender is available cheaper than what moss is charging for them. I recently saw one brand new on ebay for about $60. If you are desperate you can go to any decent auto parts store and get a Sun/Sunpro CP7577 for about $20/ Direct replacment but their lifespan can be iffy.. I already replaced one after a few months time, I am running one now that seems to be doing ok so far but definatly not as good as the
Smiths original unit.

Appreciate the info and part no. x-ref. I did pick up a NOS Smiths on ebay for $60 so my conversion is on hold for now.
