I have lost the leather washer for my mechanical oil pressure gauge (had it yesterday) and need a replacement, but can't locate one...any ideas?
Thanks, Rut

Thanks, got a bunch of those in viton and nitrile.

Dave,
Thanks, will do. Moss must be out of the leather, no longer in stock via online or by phone.

Rut, As Dave said, Use a Viton O ring. NAPPA will have the proper size, which is small, very small. What I use and never a leak. Take the tubing with you for fit. PJ

I have typically made them from gasket material using a small hole punch. While the o-ring may work, there is nothing there to prevent it being "squished" and rolling out of the joint under pressure.

I tried a Viton o ring tonight and luckily I had several sizes to choose from. I found a chubby little o ring that fits the 'tit' on the oil pressure gauge side and almost fill up the compression nut space. It tightens down securely and I will test it for pressure tomorrow...probably go for the max 100 psi.
Thanks, Rut

I did it this way. Made up a bunch and keep them handy.

Pressure tested the Viton Oring to 100 psi on the gauge with air and no leaks. I may decide to punch a few out of gasket material or leather before I button it up.

I decided to make some washers out of leather and some out of gasket material...this gave me the opportunity to buy a hollow punch set from HF. I used an old split leather belt for the leather washers and soaked them in oil. I used standard sheet gasket material for the other seals. I installed the gasket material first and tightened the nut and left it while the leather ones soaked in oil. When I pulled the first gasket it was shredded, much to my surprise. The leather gasket fared much better, compressed, sealed, and didn't tear. The proof will be a leak free oil pressure gauge once the engine is installed and running.

I'm about to do this conversion from a electric gauge sender (1971 MGB). None of the used ones come with that gasket. Please let me know what you decide on. Yes, Moss doesn't list them anymore. They also have a spacer that the no longer sell. Is this necessary?

Appreciate the experienced help. :D

Max,
PM me your address and I can send some out tomorrow before I go beachin!
