I've noted that after fully warm (20+ miles) when registering say 50 lbs. of oil pressure at 2400 rpm that slowing down a bit, lowering rpm will actually raise oil pressure 5 lbs or so.
What causes this?
 
Be sure you're not low on oil. Your pump could be starving.
 
prb: I guess my original reply was lost when the posts were restored.

I have found that fluctuations are caused by two things:

1. low oil volume - check your dip stick

2. air in oil gage feed line caused by a leak

I would check the oil pressure with a known good gage and then if the reading does not vary, your problem is the original gage/line.
 
Its not the oil level as thats topped up.
It only happens when hot and cruising at speed.
I've ordered a proper oil pressure test gauge and will check that out when it arrives....hadn't thought about the air in the gauge line. I suspect the gauge but we'll see.
