I was thinking this winter about replacing my oil pan gasket and pressure plug since I believe they both are leaking. Should I or can I do anything else while I'm replacing these 2 items? Thanks in advance.

If no other symptoms, I might let it go at that. You could, of course, check the crank end float and after that look at the bottom bearings. Whenever I do that, though, I find myself right into it. They never look good enough to put back in. You can replace them with the engine in place but I have always pulled it out.

Definitely check end float, as it's a known weak spot in the TR6 motor. Not hard at all with the engine in the car as long as you can safely get it high enough to have room to work. Depending on how old they are, I'd consider changing the rod bearings as well. They usually wear faster than main bearings, and fresh ones will probably help put off a rebuild. One of the TR3 books (I forget which offhand) actually recommends changing them every 30,000 miles to reduce crankshaft wear.
