Oil filter revisited

I'm switching from a 948 to a 1275 in my BE. The 948 engine has an extra extension to the filter housing that angles the filter away from the engine, towards the hole in the frame.

I can see that the frame rail may interfere with the standard 1275 filter arrangement. I can easily switch the 948 extension to the 1275, but in all of the discussions on this topic about problems with filter accessibility, I've never seen that mentioned.

Am I correct that the BE frame will block access to the 1275 canister, and will the 948 extension solve the problem?

Thanks,

Michael

My 64 has a 1275 in it, and while the filter clears the frame rail, it cannot be removed because the frame rail is too close to the long bolt that goes up through the filter.

If I had one of those angle adapters I bet that would solve my problem, but I went a different route and got a spin-on adapter.

I'm pretty sure my 64 has the same frame rails as a bugeye in front.

We just put a 1275 in our Bugeye last month, and took the opportunity to put a spin on adaptor on it. Have you considered this? I got tired of spending hours trying to get a good seal on the filter housing after an oil change... :wall:

I wound up ordering a spin-on from Mini Mania- couldn't bring myself to strip the original engine. It's hauled me around for too long...

Miss Agatha has a spin on from a 1275. Factory would have done it if spin-ons had been available.
