oil filler cap

I have a 1500 Spit engine in my Herald Coupé. I have noticed some oil weeping from the filler cap.The cap has 4OC stamped on it and looks as if it is like a radiator cap. Surely these aren't pressurized?
I have just changed the oil and overfilled it a bit. About half an inch above the full mark.
Is that connected?
I feel a bit stupid asking these questions,but I can't see why the oil has suddenley appeared like that.

Well, too much oil would seem a likely thing to cause oil to appear where is hasn't shown itself before. I would just suck that 1/2" out or drain it off (some quick work at the drain plug).

'40C' might be the p/n of the cap (e.g. the original AC cap on a TR4 is an 'FC4').

I agree with Geo, plus too much oil can sometimes cause problems worse than the weeping.

Just my 2 cents worth even though my wife will only give me a penny for my thoughts! lol

Have drained out the excess and now all seems to be well;
That'll teach me to try and squeeze the last drop in from the can. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/blush.gif
