Anyone know what oil filter will a 1500 (1980). The fitting is 9/16 but most filters are 11/16 any know a North American part number that will fit?

It is a standard easily accessible oil filter. I bought mine at Walmart. Just went to the automotive isle and looked it up with their little computer thing by the oil filters. I will be under the car tomorrow and can give you a definate number if you like. I have a 1979 MG with the 1500 engine.

Ahh... I recall reading about this when I got the Midget (same engine). Apparently, there is an adapter to use newer filters on that, and at some point mine had the adapter installed so it can use an AC-Delco PF53. Maybe somebody knows of a handy place to get those, I recall seeing one advertised many moons ago, but I don't see it readily in the Moss catalog. Maybe Victoria British has them? I'll keep an eye out and see if I can spot them, but maybe another 1500 owner knows where to get readily.

I was right! Victoria British has the adaptor, part #3-1705. Costs $4.95. This will allow you to use a newer filter, such as the AC PF-53. That's the same filter used by a '92-'99 Saturn, either engine, in case you need a cross reference.
