Oil Capacity

The sump capacity calls for 7.8 pints for a 1275. I am assuming this is with a dry oil filter? Am I correct?

That is correct, and the filter capacity (if stock) is 1.2 pts.!

Thank you sir. The oil filter is spin on. I imagine it is less that 1.2 pints. Probably too close to make a difference.

The filter that I am running right now is the black one that VB sells with their spin on kit.

P.S. Spin on kit did not fit. So I stole a spin on adapter from one of my dad's old mini race engines. LOL. I told him about it and he said that he got it through Mini Mania years ago. Probably in the 70s of course. They still sell them for about $100. I wish I would of known about them before I bought the VB version.
Got one if anyone wants it!!

I find it easier with Bugsy just to unbolt the adapter itself rather than trying to get a filter wrench in there. For some reason I can't find a good angle on the filter.

Jim, if you are using the angled adapter, there are band type filter wrenches that take a 3/8" drive. Using a long extension and ratchet, you should be able to get it from the top.

The oil cooler was an add-on for 1275s and would not have its oil content included in the capacities!

How tight are you guys making the oil filters? All you need is to put it on snug, and then 1/2 to 3/4 of a turn more!
