Oil capacity after spin on adapter conversion

Good morning one and all. I have converted my TR6's canister type oil filter with the spin on adapter. I am using a Fram PH3600 filter. While filling the oil I noticed that it took more oil than the 9 pints that manual said. Is this because of the new position of the oil filter which keeps more oil in it instead of it draining back into the oil pan? Should I put in oil until the dipstick reads full? Thanks

Hello Jerry,
I have a spin on oil filter on my Triumph 2.5 PI and I just fill to the full mark. Theoretically, I suppose that the oil level will be slightly higher when running with the conversion than without as the original oil canister will have some oil in it when running and empties when stopped.

Aloha Jerry,

I use a PH3600 on my TR3 and it take a bit more oil to bring it up to the full mark on the dip stick. The backflow preventor feature in the filter not only keeps oil in the filter but also the upstream oil galleries. The great addvantage is instant oil pressure on start up which makes the spin oil filter conversion a good after market change.

Safety Fast,
Dave
