Ohio Antique Plate Law Change

Ohio is one of those states that require both front and rear license plates. That law also applies to antique plates. However, now in Ohio if you have Ohio antique plates on your car and you buy an original Ohio plate that is of the year of your car you can go to the license bureau (with the original year plate in hand and registration)and after paying a $4.50 transfer fee you can use the original plate on your car. AND, YOU ONLY HAVE TO HAVE ONE PLATE ON THE CAR.
So, now AH owners don't have to mess with front plates. The plate is good for the car as long as the car exists. You must keep the registration and one of the antiqe car plates with you in the car glove box or trunk.

Also, now you are allowed to take your antique car with antique plates (or original year plate) on a pleasure drive any time you want up to 250 miles per trip.

I've been running that way for a few years now, but thanks for the affirmation

Randi,
Where are you located in Ohio. I am right on the Ohio River in the city of Toronto, which is about 7 miles north of Steubenville, Ohio, and about 45 miles due west of Pittsburgh, Pa.

Randy,

I've been there a few times. We looked at The University of Toledo Law School for my daughter where she was offered a full scholarship. She decided to go in another career direction though. It's a nice town. It takes over 4 hours to get there from Toronto.

We have the same regulations here in Ontario, Canada.... the cost when I got mine was $10.00...it is now the same as vanity plates...$256.00

There is no limit on driving however...just with your insurance company's rules.
