This is way before my time, but I sure enjoy the look and feel of it. A casual weekend outing with family and friends at the local airport. Some highlights that caught my eye; the flagger with great style and flare only inches from speeding cars, drivers leaving and returning from racing while smoking and Healeys well represented with a couple 100-4's and 100-S. What did you see?

I would've been six at the time. My dad had an army surplus Jerry can like the one next to the Glaspar. There was just a ton of WWII surplus stuff out there in the early 50s. At 4:21, I saw a guy slap a 4 x 5 film holder into a Speed Graphic...

That's something you don't see any more either.

Thanks, What a great find ! I saw a Porshe and TR-3 like my brother had. That was the begining of my mechanic days. Do you see guys like that anymore ? Look at the arms on them ! These kids today don't even have hair on their arms. We've become weinies ! I like the cigarettes hanging out of their mouths while they are driving !
 
Speed grafic! Wow! I have a 4x5 and a 3 1/4 x 4 1/4 that I haven't used in 20 years sitting in a closet. I use to have to get Kodak to cut film for me even then. Can you even imagine what you could do if it could be converted to digital?

I used to cut 4x5 down to size in the darkroom with a blade-style paper cutter... black 3M masking tape at width/length on the bed of the 'chopper' as guides. One sheet at a time. Loading film holders, processing racks, roll film tanks... sheesh.
Kids these days have NO idea. :jester:

The Speed Graphic is on our livingroom shelf as part of the 'eyewash' now, tho. Along with an old Leica III-C, a "brick" Argus, Kodak Pony, several assorted Kodakian and Agfa folders and Brownie units.
Oh! And one of my many Miranda SLR's with a 105.

...now if I could only find some schm...err, dedicated individual to go thru and scan the THOUSANDS of negs of various sizes I have ferreted away here...

I have a 5x7 and a 8x10 Elwood Enlarger in my attic.

Not sure which car you mean, but the featured car is, as the text says, a Glasspar. Wikipedia describes it well.
 
Perhaps the Continental Kit on the Glasspar was there to balance out what was probably a lot of understeer--it definitely had speed out of, if not through the corners.

On a different note that was one fast Simca!
 
:winner1: Looked like the AH won to me, or at least the checkered flag was waved to end the race. I too can remember spending days at our local SCCA track called MAR (Mid America Raceway) located in Wentzville MO not to far from St. Louis.
