FWIW:
I just ordered one from:exeterautosupply
for $189 plus $7 bucks for the cap. The person I spoke with said that he takes all that offenhauser makes when they run a batch of them. He said he got 40 last year. He has 6 left.

btw: the part number is 3132.

That is pathetic. PT Barum would be having a field day watching the sales that happen there.
 
The sad thing is: it has happened 2x before...That I know of.

In July of 2004 one sold on ebay for $465. The guy that sells them for $189 told be he sold one on ebay last November for $400+. I found the listing this morning...did a little surfing and called to see if they really were still available as the online store indicated. I think $189 is steep, but if I decide I don't like it: ebay...:smile:

Didn't know Exeter's price... Think I'll just go get one of those 6 left right now. I do know that TRF wants $350 for one. (Clearly, Exeter doesn't get ALL of 'em.) Yup... $471 (+ shipping) makes no sense at all! Gotta know what you're bidding on.
 
I can't say for sure but he told me he sells to TRF. He was a really nice guy. We talked for what seemed like 30 minutes. The valve cover weighs 8 lbs! He told me that once you see it in person you'll realize what a quality piece it is.

Is this for the four-cylinder TRs or for a TR6? I see a TR6 in your avatar but the description sounds like it's for a four. It sounds very nice and I might be interested if they have them for the 6.

I can vouch for the guy from Exeter. I bought mine directly from him after a little net sleuthing, after seeing one of the previous ebay auctions (just like Tim the OP said). In fact, since I bought mine he's raised the price $10 ...... but it sure is worth it. It really looks and fits great. A lot nicer than the ones available from the usual vendors.
