Does anyone know what off the shelf Wix, NAPA, or Mann oil filter (or any other number that I can crosscheck) fits the Moss spin on oil filter adapter for a TR3?
Thanks in advance!

My spin on adaptor is from Moss and I use Fram PH2870A or Puro L20252 or equivalents. Those are typical 4 cylinder VW and BMW applications though possibly not as common as they were some years ago. There are probably many other applications that work as well.

I paint them to resemble the canister so they don't look too out of place.

My TR3 uses the NAPA Gold FIL1516 or Wix 51516 filters that have been recommended earlier.

I use the NAPA GOLD 1516 Fram PH3600 also fits. The TR6 filter is totally different.

No, not really, Charlie. The TR6 uses the same spin on filters as you posted...

On my 56 TR3, the spin on filter that came with the car had PH2825 stamped on body of filter by previous owner and an AMS FO-217 filter installed. That PH2825 is not easy to track down locally so some other alternative would be nice.

On my TR6, i use Fram 3600 or equivalent. Quite a different sized filter (smaller diameter). It would be great if one filter could be used on both cars.

Cheers, Mike

Thanks for all the info, it will help. I'm ready to get the break in oil out of my car and install the spin on adapter.
Geo - nice touch to paint your filters.
Based on "Bob the oil guy's" testing and writing several years ago, I am not a Fram fan. My previous Euro car experience led me to Mann, Mahle, and then Wix (which is also NAPA Gold and Platinum).
Ken, I finally got my side screens fitted, so, Linda and I plan to attend the British Show in Fairhope AL on Oct 14th.
Thanks again, this great Forum makes these fun cars even more enjoyable!
