Of radiator and mice

This past weekend I was cleaning up the radiator out of my 73'B in preparation for painting, when I heard something rolling around in there. When I turned it over, cat food started rolling out of the upper hose pipe. It seems that mice were using the upper tank as storage for their food supply.
Well, I got it all out of there and after I got it cleaned up, I put duct tape on the upper and lower pipes. I can only hope the mice found some residual antifreeze in there and drank it. Antifreeze is sweet tasting (probably why the mice went in there in the first place) but very toxic.
Never a dull moment!

Mark...my radiator man told me that radiators should always be stored FULL OF ANTIFREEZE! He rebuilds them all time so I decided to check him out...sure enough, more radiators that I've stored dry are bad than those that I've left antifreeze in! You might want ot have it pressurized & then fill it up....I use the regular radiator cap & little plastic can tops wrapped with duct tape over hose outlets to hold antifreeze inside while they're sitting in a corner...&, I have 18 or so MGB & Midget radiators that need some repairs due to dry storage!

Tony,
Thanks for the tip. After I paint it, I'll fill it up with antifreeze. The radiator has been out of the car for about 4 weeks and it will probably be another 4 to 6 weeks before I get the body back. I hope I haven't done any damage to it yet.
