OD planet carrier gear bearings?

Anyone ever get into a rebuild this far? I have to because on inspection of the planet carrier, one of the gears was super sloppy on the shaft. Turns out that the needle bearings are gone, as in not there anymore. So, the question is, were the needle bearings originally in a race, or a grease retained full complement? I'm leaning toward the latter since I already found some but am just curious.

Jake, I had to remove one of the gears from my planet carrier last winter to replace the bronze thrust washer, but I didn't have to replace the bearings. Ask Magnus Karlsson, he should be able to answer your question: magnuskarlsson@bornet.net.
