MGB OD install, speedo drive gear

Good morning everyone! I finally installed my new rebuilt engine and upgraded to a blue label OD in my 1970 MGB and I'm happy to report that I have OD in 3rd and 4th gear! That said I'm unhappy to report that the speedo drive and/or the driven gear in the OD is not working and I either have to pull the engine and transmission or if I'm very lucky, pull the driven gear out and replace. I've never done this and have a real aversion to all things inside a transmission...can anyone offer advice?
Thanks, Rut
