Hopefully someone can explain this issue. I've got the clearance between my slave cylinder piston and push rod properly set. I'd like to think there is no air in my system (I've bled it repeatedly). I can depress the clutch and it will hold (no leakage in piston seals). The clutch engages and disengages properly. But... occasionally, maybe once in a hundred shifts, I can feel excessive pedal travel before the clutch disengages. I pump it a couple of times and all's well.
What's going on?

How's your slave return spring? One possibility is that the return spring is weak, and doesn't always pull the piston all the way back.

If it gets annoying enough, I'd also check the springs inside the MC. My big spring had broken into 4 pieces before I discovered the problem. I'm guessing that if the little wavy spring was weak or partially broken, that might cause similar symptoms.

It's perplexing... not enough to make me tear into it though. The spring I have now seems pretty stiff. I can't hook it by hand if that's any measure. Regardless, I'll order a new return spring and see if that solves it. If not, I'll wait until the culprit gets worse and shows itself.
