"Nuther New Name

Just joined again. Came to the States in '66 with a BJ6 and a suitcase on the old Queen Mary..to see a gal. Married her and stayed! She allowed me to dabble in sports cars ever since. Healey's have always been my thing, but currently have an '05 Morgan Roadster, and have just purchased a "rebuilt" TR6 which I will probably try to 'Improve"! Hi Keoke if you are still there, you were very helpful with technical matters on my Healeys eons ago!! Look forward to re-establishing contact with all again. Cheers, David Lamb (actor 430)

Hello David!
I also came to America via ship in the 60's but not, alas, on the Queen Mary, but on the Canadian Pacific liner Empress of Canada that docked in Montreal.

Welcome David - I came here by Boeing, many years later than you. The "Mary" was the most beautiful ship afloat, in my view.

zedvictor1 - you sailed from Liverpool on an Empress boat in the 60s? Johnny Todd's your theme tune to judge from your call-sign. You'll remember Barlow and Watt I shouldn't wonder!
My sister and several cousins sailed to Canada in the 60s from the Pierhead. I sailed out of Liverpool in the Merchant Navy back then.

Memories.

:savewave: Hello David, and welcome!

Re: "Nuther New Name

Thanks for the welcome, lads! Correction: my first Healey was, in fact, a BN4 not an apocryphal "BJ6" (getting confused with the new Triumph purchase, which I will be driving home to Buffalo from Florida in a couple of weeks time). I put the Healey in the river a few days before loading onto the boat ( must be the only person ever to fall asleep at the wheel of a Healey...at least that's what I told the parents!) and three months later drove it down to Florida from NY with the fellow who sold it to me in England. ALL the lucas bits finally dried out and disconnected..then the clutch went for a burton and we drove the rest of the way and all the way back the old-fashioned way (yes the tranny held up!) I will post pictures as soon as I can tease the procedure out of this Mac. Cheers
