You oughtta see the stupidbaker option on the wagon area roof.

They had a sliding roof, went forward, you had the vertical space of a small pickup.

NICE one of those on eBay now. I remember when these were introduced:

Wagonaire

Studebaker had some interesting ideas. Too bad they didn't make it.

what a great car! not a bad price either. Certainly a reminder that you can get into this hobby with a really interesting car for not too much money if you are prepared to deviate from the pack.

Stupidbakers did have a lot of innovations.
The Stupidbaker folks claim that the marque invented "hill-holder" technology, and I have had to work on those before.

They also had a weird front end in the early days, and when they entered into round-and-round endurance races, generally dropped out when the oil pan started scraping the track.

Some of their stuff was adopted by others (Subaru-hill holder, trunnion U-joints, Chrysler, Willys, etc, and Planar or Planadyne front suspension, Willys for sure), a lot of it maintenance prone.

I think that it was a very modern looking car.
I'd love to have it,but can't afford the price of
admission.

This is also a very rare Studebaker. 1940 utility coupe. This is factory, not home brewed;

The wife and I owned one of these. Quiet as a church mouse and had a beautiful ride. Just ugly as sin!
