Now this is impressive!!

Regardless of all of the above...Thanks to this listing I now have a 64 page booklet (and an empty ink cartridge!!) of priceless details of an original BE!!! /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/banana.gif /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/banana.gif

I've put them into a 21 page word document I'd be happy to share. The zip of it is 3.5 MB and is located here:

Definetly one of the best originals I've seen. I do think there has been some detailing in the past with black paint. The radiator supports are correct in black, but I don't think the underside should be. Could have been done by the dealer or sometime way back. The reason I think so, is the steering arms on the spindles should havve yellow ends and the springs should have a colored strip on them. Everything else looks original. Notice the seam sealer. It is like an asphalt sealer and cracks with age. I restored a leaf green '60 and it too was mostly original, and was not black underneath. Also notice the primer color inside the boot area. That is something restorers usually over do by painting inside there. Definitely save pictures if you are doing a BE restoration. These colaborate well with factory photos, but most were in B&W. I agree that some examples like this need to be preserved so that we have references for restorations. It's worth the sacrifice of not driving it. You can always build one to drive, but they are only original once.

I just sold a pair of wing mirrors like that on ebay. Wish I had kept them now. Notice the tire pump. Looks vintage but not the typical Sutty pump.

Did the engine come from the factory wtih the ID plate painted? In the pic it looks like the engine ID plate was rubbed clean of paint except around the mounting pins.....or is it masked at the factory and the current look is the result?

Never noticed the rubber spacers at the bottom of the bonnet before. Sure there are many other details missed.

As my kidz would say "way cool".

As nice as that is, and it is very nice and orginal, it is not quite a pristine as the seller would like you to beleive.

Will not go into all the minor, very minor changes that have been made over the years but there are a few. It does not detract from the lovely car at all. Wish it was in my garage so it could get some love.

Well, just over an hour to go on the auction and it is up to $17,100 (reserve still not met!!) I'm keeping watch!! /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/thumbsup.gif

Just checked it myself. This is one that I would expect a flurry at the last minute...but, ya never know...

Keep in mind that it may also have a reserve that is way high...just to check the water by an owner that may not be to anxious to sell. I remember seeing this a lot from a seller in Florida that photos cars by a pool. The listing and reserve cost is a cheap way to find out what the market (at least the Ebay market) is at any given time.

/bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/iagree.gif I remember that Fl. car!!!

Auction just ended at $21,600...reserve not met!!

WOW! VERY COOL! I would rather look at a survivor than a perfectly restored car anyday! NICE!!! I need to save some of those photos!

Well, $21,600 and it did not meet reserve, I think this is a car for RM or Barrett Jackson.
