Being a Toyota guy, I gotta put in for a Tacoma. worked on a lot of 'em, major mechanical problems were rare.

Plus one - I have a 2005 Tacoma. Only issue I've had was that the display for the temperature and compass died (common problem, and lots of documentation about a very easy fix with a soldering iron), and the hood release cable slipped out of the handle under the dash. 85k miles and doing great.
